We have three different levels to our athletics program here. We have the intramural sports, which is for anybody who wants to get involved. Battleship is an intramural sport that we have, where you build your boats out of cardboard and you put them in the Hollis Center pool. And you're basically just trying to sink everybody else's ships before your ship sinks. And then we have the club sports a little bit more competitive, you can still travel and stuff like that. But the scholarships are on the D I Division of that.
Everything from rowing, to football, to cheerleading, to baseball, to soccer, so many sports. In terms of student-athletes at Stetson, they are held to the same standard, if not higher than the other students. They have a minimum GPA that they have to maintain in order to play on the team. They also have to maintain practice schedules, go to study halls. It's really-- really, all inspiring. School spirits, pretty fun, especially on game day.
You'll see people all dressed up around campus, and going to the stadium, and sitting on the hill with their picnic blankets. And I guess that's a big tradition-- is that the cheerleaders come out with their T-shirt cannons, and people are running down the hill for them, and picnicking with their friends and it's really fun. I definitely love being an athlete, because it literally gives me something to wake up in the morning for, and I just love supporting my school in any way, shape or form. Cheerleading is obviously my favorite way of doing that. It's allowed me to kind of get out of my shell a little bit because before I joined athletics, I didn't really feel connected to the school. And joining athletics is what really gave me that true connection.
